The location of Styhead Tarn log cabin in the Lakes at Neaum Crag, near Skelwith Bridge, Langdale Valley, Cumbria

From South:
Take the A65 or M6 up toward the lakes. At the point where these two roads merge (junction 36 of M6) carry on up the A590, then A591 towards Kendal. Stay on the A591 all the way to Windermere, then carry on towards Ambleside. Just before entering Ambleside turn left at the traffic lights (you will have just passed the Ambleside Youth Hostel) following the road around the top of lake Windermere. Take the next road left onto the A593, sign posted Coniston, Hawkshead, Langdales, stay on that road (do not turn off to Hawkshead) and continue towards Shalwith Bridge. At one point you'll notice some low fields to the left with a wall and railings on the wall - take the next road off to the right (just before a left bend in the road) sign posted High Close. Follow this road almost up to the top, when it levels out slightly there is a left turn. Turn left here, then Neaum Crag chalet site is on your right. Drive all the way up through the site to the top - Styhead Log Cabin is down a small gravel drive leading to a gate, to the left of the car park.
From North:
Either take the M6 to Penrith, leaving at junction 40 and take the A592 down past Ullswater towards Windermere. Turn right at the small roundabout onto the A591 towards Ambleside and continue instructions as above. Or, if approaching from the North Lakes, take the A591 from Keswick down to Ambleside, going through Ambleside on the one way system to come back around to the A593 to Clappersgate and follow the final instructions from there.
